Tuesday: Make a call (or 3) for the Waikiki Natatorium War Memorial

A reminder: Historic Preservation Awareness Day is today –Tuesday, March 22 — from 9 a.m. to 12 noon on the third floor of the State Capitol in Honolulu.

Historic Preservation Awareness Day

The Friends of the Natatorium will be there, along with more than 40 other organizations, talking to legislators, staff, other state officials and Capitol visitors about the importance of preserving culturally and historically important sites in Hawai’i.

Tuesday would be a perfect day for you to make a quick call to Legislative leadership just to say, “I wanted to call you on Preservation Day to let you know I support restoring the Natatorium and preserving Hawaii’s historic sites.” Senate President Shan Tsutsui’s number is 586-7344. House Speaker Calvin Say’s number is 586-6100. Gov. Neil Abercrombie’s is 586-0255.

At our Preservation Day table, of course, we’ll be telling the Natatorium’s story. But there are so many – too many – endangered historic sites all across our state. This is a great chance to learn about them. And we’d love to meet you in person if you can come down.

More details are here. Mahalo nui for making those three phone calls!
