Natatorium needs your help NOW

Monday’s inauguration of Gov. Neil Abercrombie means the key leaders are officially in place.

We believe Gov. Abercrombie and Honolulu Mayor Peter Carlisle want to preserve and restore the Natatorium. We need all Natatorium supporters to take time NOW to contact the mayor and governor and let them know we’re behind their efforts to do what’s pono.

Please send a letter, e-mail, or make a quick phone call. The messages don’t need to be long. Just say something simple, brief and pointed.

Contact the mayor

You can contact Mayor Peter Carlisle at Office of the Mayor, Honolulu Hale, 530 S. King St., Honolulu, HI 96813, at (808) 768-4141 or at this e-mail address: mayor@honolulu.gov

Use your own words, but you might say something like:

Dear Mayor Carlisle: Congratulations again on your election, and thanks for all you are doing to put Honolulu back on the right path. Now that Gov. Abercrombie is in office, I really hope the two of you will get together and take action on restoring and reopening the Waikiki Natatorium War Memorial. It’s been more than 30 years! It’s the right thing to do, for our citizens, for our veterans, and for the memory of our war dead. Let’s get it done. And let’s go swimming there sometime soon!

Contact the governor

You can contact Gov. Neil Abercrombie at Executive Chambers, State Capitol, Honolulu, HI 96813, at 808-586-0034, by posting a comment at http://www.facebook.com/abercrombieforgov or by filling out the contact form at http://hawaii.gov/gov/contact-info

Use your own words, but you might say something like:

Congratulations on your inauguration, and best of luck during your term as governor. I think that restoring and revitalizing the Natatorium needs to be an important priority for your administration. It’s been more than 30 years; let’s get this done now. Financially and morally, it’s the right thing to do, so let’s work with Mayor Carlisle and do it. I’m looking forward to swimming with you there!

Thank you, friends!

Mahalo, friends of the Natatorium, for taking the time to tell our elected leaders how important this issue is to you and your friends and family!
